About Tom Dixon

The British luxury design brand Tom Dixon is internationally known for its innovative use of materials and it's unique techniques and production process of furniture, lighting, and accessories. Founded in 2002, the brand is represented in 90 countries including Milan, Hong Kong, New York, Tokyo, and Shanghai to name a few.

Despite not having proper training in design, Creative Director and eponymous founder Tom Dixon is known to be a tireless and dynamic innovator, entering the design industry in the mid-1980's, with a line in welded salvage furniture. He created the popular 'S' Chair while at Cappellini, after which he moved on to become the Creative Director of Habitat in the 90's. During his tenure at Habitat, he managed to revamp the brand while maintaining the brand's identity of enriching everyday life through simple, modern design. Tom was also awarded an OBE by her Majesty the Queen for his services to British Design in 2001. Throughout his career, Tom gained recognition as one of Britain's most celebrated designers and is globally heralded as a one of a kind talent.

Iconic products like Beat, Melt, S-Chair and Wingback are instantly associated with Tom Dixon, with some of them finding homes in revered institutions such as the Victoria & Albert Museum, London; MOMA, New York; and the Centre Pompidou, Paris. The latest additions to the collection such as the Fat chair, Spring lights, and Swirl Accessories are catching up in prestige and demand, further emphasizing Tom's status in the design world.
